About

Welcome to The King’s Knit Wit

Nestled in the heart of Bennington, Vermont, The King’s Knit Wit is more than a shop – it’s a community space where creativity and connection thrive. Located at 520 Main Street, in a building rich with history, we bring a fresh vision to an iconic downtown landmark.

Our Mission

At The King’s Knit Wit, we believe in the power of craftsmanship and the joy of shared experiences. Our mission is to create a space where creativity meets comfort – whether you’re picking out the perfect yarn for your next project, enjoying a cup of freshly brewed coffee, or attending one of our engaging workshops.

Meet the Owners

We are Douglas Cardoza and Patrick Kincaid, two retired teachers from California with a shared passion for equality and justice for all. Throughout our careers, we taught students of all ages, from preschoolers to adults. About 15 years ago, we transitioned from the classroom to entrepreneurship, opening a craft shop in Cartersville, Georgia. What began as a small venture quickly blossomed into a beloved haven for creativity, attracting customers from near and far.

At our shop, we combined our teaching expertise with our love for the historic arts of knitting and crocheting. We offer classes to help expand your skills in a variety of techniques, from reading charts to mastering new stitches. We also specialize in unique yarns that are hard to find elsewhere, partnering with talented independent hand-dyers from across the country.

Now, we’re thrilled to bring our passion, expertise, and sense of community to Bennington. Our vision is to create a welcoming space where creativity flourishes and connections are made. We can’t wait to share this journey with you!

A Building with History

Our location has a story all its own. Originally a family-owned ice cream shop in the 1930s, the building evolved over decades into a beloved local restaurant. Today, it’s been reimagined into a vibrant gathering space that honors its past while looking to the future.
